Bishop Petar Palić: I am not running away from visiting Medjugorje, I am looking forward to it...
In an interview with Croatian Catholic Radio, Petar Palić, the newly appointed Bishop of Mostar-Duvno and the Apostolic Administrator of Trebinje and Mrkan, had this to say about Medjugorje:
“As is well known, Medjugorje is now directly under the administration of the Holy See. Msgr Hoser is there as an administrator. The “Herzegovinian case”, as it is otherwise called, that is, the surrender of parishes that are still, if we can say so, in an irregular canonical state – these are open questions. These are open issues that will certainly require a solution, but we must be open to cooperation, as I said, and understanding, and observation, and analysis so that we can approach the best – the best possible solution to these issues.”
“Currently, as I said, Medjugorje is under the administration of Msgr Hoser. I have met him now, both last night and today. There is already his invitation to visit Medjugorje. I have to see how things stand legally – what his powers are, which are possibly mine as a diocesan bishop. Of course, I am not running away from visiting Medjugorje. Medjugorje is a parish of the Mostar diocese. Therefore, this regular pastoral life, of course, with this specificity that Medjugorje brings with it, takes place in Medjugorje, so I look forward to visiting Medjugorje.”
